2022-23 Season (5th Year) - In her final season as a Bulldog, Prieto competed in 11 meets...Prieto racked up several podium finishes throughout both the indoor and outdoor seasons...Logged a pair of runner-up finishes in the long and triple jumps at the season-opening meet in Boone...Was the runner-up again in the triple jump at the Gamecock Opener...Won both the long and triple jumps at the VMI Winter Classic...Won the Big South's Indoor Long Jump with a leap of 6.03m and also finished second in the triple jump (12.31m)...Prieto won the long and triple jumps again at the Catamount Classic in mid-April...Repeated as the Big South's long jump champion at the Conference's Outdoor meet with a leap of 6.12m...Was also the runner-up in the triple jump again...Set new personal-best marks in both the long and triple jumps during the outdoor season...Competed for the Bulldogs for the second straight season at the NCAA East Prelims where she placed 23rd with a leap of 6.00m in the long jump...Prieto also shined off the track by being named the Big South's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year following both the indoor and outdoor seasons...Was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and landed a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.Â
2021-22 Season (Senior) - Prieto appeared in 13 meets for Asheville during the 2021-22 academic year...Prieto continued to make her mark both athletically and academically...She broke the program long jump record, both indoor and outdoor, multiple times and was named the Big South's Scholar-Athlete of the Year following both the indoor and outdoor seasons...Overall, Prieto totaled eight first-place finishes on the season...She also set new personal-best marks in the long jump, triple jump, 55-meter and 60-meter dashes...Won both the long and triple jumps at the Keydet Invitational and Buccaneer Invitational...Garnered All-Big South Second Team honors in the long jump (6.03m) at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships...Won the long jump in four straight meets during the outdoor campaign, including at the Georgia Tech Invitational in late April...Earned All-Big South Second Team honors again in the long jump (6.03m) at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships...Prieto and teammate Solomon McDonald joined an exclusive group of Bulldogs as she was invited to compete at the NCAA East Prelims...There Prieto finished 23rd in the long jump with a leap of 5.92-meters.Â
2020-21 Season (Junior) - Like in her sophomore campaign, Prieto competed in six meets in 2020-21...Opened the season by notching her first ever event victories at the Winthrop Opener...Prieto won the long jump (5.78-meters), triple jump (11.66-meters), and helped the Bulldog 4x100m relay team take the top spot with a time of 50.23...Prieto was named the Big South's Field Athlete of the Week on both March 3 and 17...With these honors, Prieto became the first Bulldog to ever earn Field Athlete of the Week honors during the outdoor season...Closed out her junior season by garnering All-Big South honors in both the long jump (2nd - 6.01-meters) and triple jump (3rd - 12.16-meters)...As a junior, Prieto broke of the program's outdoor records in the long and triple jump events...Academically, Prieto was once again as the Bulldogs' All-Academic Team member.Â
2019-20 Season (Sophomore) - As a sophomore, Prieto appeared in six meets for Asheville prior to the CoVID-19 shutdown...Logged seven podium finishes during the indoor season...Set new personal-best times in both the 55-meter hurdles (9.30) and 60-meter hurdles events (9.69)...Broke the program's indoor school record in the long jump with a leap of 5.78-meters...Finished up her season by earning All-Big South Third Team honors in the long jump with a leap of 5.72-meters...Additionally, Prieto was recognized for her work in the classroom as she was named Asheville's All-Academic Team member.Â
2018-19 Season (Freshman) - In her first season as a Bulldog, Prieto competed in 11 meets that included both the Big South Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships...Made her collegiate track & field debut in late November at the Appalachian Open Indoor Track Meet where she placed fourth in the 55-meter dash (7.35) and third in the long jump (5.40m)...In her first appearance at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships in mid-February, Prieto placed just outside the podium finishers placing fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.55-meters...Prieto closed her freshman season at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships where she competed in the 100-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay, long jump, and triple jump...Finished fifth in both the long and triple jump events.
Prior to UNC Asheville: Claudia Prieto comes to Asheville from Colegio Base in Madrid, Spain ... Held the program record for her track and field club in long jump, 60m and 100m ... Prieto earned a first-place finish in the Indoor National Championships in 2015 ... Was a member of the relay team that won the the World School Championships in France in 2017 ... Her team won the World School Championship in Wuham, China in 2015 ... Earned second-place honors in the Outdoor National Championship in 2016 and World School Championships in 2015 in the long jump ... Tallied third-place honors in long jump at the Indoor National Championship in 2013 and 2017 ... Also placed third in 100m dash in World School Championships in 2015 ... Prieto is a biology major with a minor in health and wellness at UNC Asheville.
