BIG SOUTH RELEASE

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Big South Conference announced on Monday that UNC Asheville's Robbie Burnett had been named the Conference's Freshman of the Week for games played between May 2-8. It marks the second time this season that Burnett has earned this honor, with the other occurring back on April 11.

Burnett was the key cog in Asheville's offense in four games last week. The Franklinton, N.C. native hit .375 on the week in 16 at-bats with two runs scored and seven driven in. Burnett notched the first two-home run game of his career in the series finale vs. Gardner-Webb and finished the day going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Burnett also posted two-hit performances vs. Wofford on Wednesday and in the series opener vs. the Runnin' Bulldogs.

This award marks the sixth time this season that the Bulldogs have earned a weekly honor from the league office. As mentioned earlier, Burnett also took home Freshman of the Week honors back on April 11. Fellow Bulldogs Blake Little (Relief Pitcher – March 14), Justin Honeycutt (Relief Pitcher – March 21), Michael Groves (Player – March 28), and Dylan Bacot (Player – April 25) have received recognition for their play from the Big South.

Burnett and the rest of the Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday when it visits East Tennessee State for their final non-conference game of the regular season. Tuesday's game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch from Johnson City.
