Justin Honeycutt Named Big South Relief Pitcher of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Justin Honeycutt of the UNC Asheville baseball team was named the Big South's Relief Pitcher of the Week by the league office on Monday. It marks the second straight week the Bulldogs have landed the league's relief pitcher of the week award after Blake Little earned the honor last Monday.

Honeycutt was a key reason why the Bulldogs won the middle game of their series at Longwood on Saturday. Entering the game in the sixth inning, Honeycutt threw 3.2 innings of scoreless relief to give the Bulldogs a chance to mount a rally, and they did just that, winning the contest, 7-3. Honeycutt was the winning pitcher in that contest and struck out six in that appearance. Honeycutt also appeared in a game Tuesday against Lafayette, where he worked two innings and did not allow an earned run.

Honeycutt and the rest of the Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday when it visits rival Western Carolina for a non-conference matchup. That contest is scheduled for a 5 p.m. first pitch on ESPN+.
