Dylan Bacot named Big South Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – The Big South Conference announced Monday that UNC Asheville's Dylan Bacot has been named the League's Player of the Week for games played April 18-24. This honor is the first of Bacot's career as a Bulldog and the fifth weekly award that the Bulldogs have earned this season.
Bacot played a key role in Asheville posting a 3-1 record last week. The Fayetteville, N.C. native hit .583 in 12 at-bats with four extra-base hits (four doubles, one triple, one home run) to go with 10 RBI. Bacot also scored six times himself and drew a team-high six walks to boost his on-base percentage for the week to .650. In the weekend sweep of Radford, Bacot hit .667 with a home run and nine RBI. He matched a season-high with three hits in Sunday's series finale and set a new season-high with five runs driven in to help the Bulldogs in their record-breaking 25-8 win over the Highlanders. Over his last 10 games, Bacot is hitting .543 with 19 RBI, 11 runs scored, and seven extra-base hits (five doubles, a triple, a home run) to go with an on-base percentage of .625.Â
Bacot is the fifth Bulldog this season to earn a weekly award from the Big South joining Blake Little (Relief Pitcher – March 14), Justin Honeycutt (Relief Pitcher – March 21), Michael Groves (Player – March 28), and Robbie Burnett (Freshman – April 11). It marks the first time that the Bulldogs have earned multiple Player of the Week awards from the Conference since 2012 when Billy Creighton and Todd Joyner achieved the feat.
Bacot and the rest of the Bulldogs will look to keep things rolling on Tuesday when it visits Charlotte for a non-conference matchup. The first pitch for that contest is scheduled for 6 p.m.Â
