Asheville Finishes Second at Velvet Classic; Three Bulldogs Place in Top 10

PADUCAH, Ky. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team is bringing hardware back to Asheville for a second time in as many opportunities this season, as the Bulldogs finished second out of 16 teams at The Velvet Classic. 

The Bulldogs shot a 298 (+10) in the third round to finish the tournament with a 3-round score of 896. Asheville finished one stroke behind Troy, who won after shooting a 295 (+7) in the final round.

INDIVIDUAL FINISHES

Pennie Osterberg finished the 54 holes in a four-way tie for first and went on to compete in a playoff hole that was won by Troy's Constanza Quiroga. Osterberg shot rounds of 73-73-75. 

Jordyn Arts played the best tournament of her career as she finished tied for fifth with rounds of 73-75-75. 

Breanna Hoese finished in a three-way tie for ninth with rounds of 74-76-75. Hoese led the field with 40 pars.  

Caroline Patterson improved 17 spots and finished in a four-way tie for 25th with rounds of 81-77-73. Lauren Madson finished in a 3-way tie for 40th with rounds of 84-73-80.
