Bulldogs Finish in a Three-Way Tie for Tenth at Red Sky Classic

WOLCOTT, Colo. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team wrapped up the Golfweek Red Sky Classic on Wednesday (Sept. 24), and after a strong third round, the Bulldogs finished in a three-way tie for 10th out of the 20-team field. 

The Bulldogs shot rounds of 305-296-285 (+22) and improved five spots following the team's 3-under-par performance in the final round. 

Breanna Hoese led Asheville in the final round, shooting a season low 69 (-3). Hoese finished tied for 28th (+3) with rounds of 75-74-69. She recorded four birdies on the day and finished the tournament with eight, while leading Asheville with 37 pars. 

Caroline Patterson led Asheville with a T22 finish with rounds of 75-69-72 (E). She led the team with 10 birdies. 

Jordyn Arts and Pennie Osterberg both shot a 72 on the day to help Asheville with its 3-under-par third-round score. Arts finished the tournament tied in 63rd with rounds of 78-77-72 (+11). Osterberg finished tied in 77th with rounds of 77-82-72 (+15). Osterberg shot her second eagle of the tournament on Wednesday, making her the only individual in the field to have two eagles in the 54-hole competition. 

Lauren Madson finished tied in 82nd with rounds of 79-76-78.

As a team, Asheville had 161 pars, 37 birdies, and two eagles.

Southern California won with a new tournament record of 819 (-45). The Trojans had two individuals finish tied for first with a 203 (-13), which tied the individual tournament record.
