Osterberg and Bulldogs Atop Leaderboard Following Day One of The Velvet Classic

PADUCAH, Ky. – Asheville stayed in the hunt at the top of the leaderboard all day during the first two rounds of The Velvet Classic, and after 36 holes, the Bulldogs will enter day two in first place with a two-round score of 598 (+22).
Asheville's performance was led by Pennie Osterberg, who remained consistent through the two rounds, shooting a 73 twice (+2) to lead the field going into the final round tomorrow. Osterberg is leading the field at -3 for par 3s, as she is averaging a 4.63. Of her five birdies on the day, four were on par 5s.
Jordyn Arts is on pace for having the best tournament of her career, as she is tied for third at +4. Arts shot rounds of 73 and 75 and is leading the field with eight birdies. She is -1 on par 3s, averaging 2.88.
Breanna Hoese is not far behind, as she is tied for eighth at +6 with rounds of 74 & 76.
Lauren Madson improved 29 shots with her second round performance and enters tomorrow tied for 39th following rounds of 84 and 73.
Caroline Patterson improved 11 spots after her second-round performance and enters tomorrow tied for 42nd with scores of 81 and 77.
All five Bulldogs are in the top half of the 91-person field.
The Bulldogs shot +13 and +9 as a team to take the top spot on the leaderboard. Asheville is closely followed by Troy, which is +24; tournament hosts Murray State are +27. The top five teams are all within 11 strokes.
