ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team heads to Paducah, Kentucky, to compete in the Velvet Classic, hosted by Murray State Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 15-16).
ASHEVILLE'S FIVE
LAST TIME OUT
Asheville opened its 2025-26 season at the Tiger Classic on Aug. 25, and the Bulldogs battled to a second-place finish out of 11 teams. Asheville shot a 574 (-2) after shooting 5-over on the first 18 holes and 7-under on the back half of the 36 holes. Asheville's 7-under-par (281) second round is the lowest round scored in program history, and the Bulldogs' 2-under-par 36-hole finish marks the first time in program history Asheville has finished a tournament under par. Asheville's 574 on the day is a program record for the lowest 36-hole score.
GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Madson was named the Big South Women's Golfer of the Week following her Bulldog debut. Madson placed fifth out of 70 golfers at the Classic (par 72, 6,228 yards) to finish the day at 4-under par (73-67). Madison's two-round score of 140 (-4) set a new program record for lowest 36-hole total, and was one of three individuals to shoot an eagle on the day.
