Women's Golf Set for Big South Conference Championships

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -Â UNC Asheville women's golf is set for the Big South Championships this week. Stroke play begins on Wednesday (Apr. 12) and goes through Friday (Apr. 14), while the finals will consist of match play on Saturday (Apr. 15).

About the Bulldogs - The Bulldogs come into the championships as the No. 4 seed, with momentum of three consecutive top-five finishes. Madyson Gold leads the Bulldogs with a 75.00 scoring average, while Kayla Benge averages 76.88 and Phoebe Carles posts a 77.42 scoring average. Ally Kerr also averages 77.71, while Venecia Zaia sits at 77.75 and Hailey Pendleton also averages 79.93. Gold is also 10th in the Big South Conference individually in stroke average.
About the Tournament Field - Campbell comes into the championships as the top seed, followed by Charleston Southern and High Point. Asheville will face No. 4 USC Upstate and No. 6 Longwood, while No. 7 Gardner-Webb faces No. 8 Radford and No. 9 Presbyterian faces No. 10 Winthrop. Â
From Head Coach Ross Cash - "I feel like our team is exactly where we need to be as we head into the Big South Championships," said head coach Ross Cash. "With this being my first year at UNC Asheville, they have had to learn a new coach with a different approach to preparation and game day golf. Everyone has done a great job and we are ready to go compete."
