Highlights
Presbyterian opened the game with a lone run in the top of the first. A.J. Priaulx connected with a sacrifice fly to give the Blue Hose the early lead.
In the bottom of the first, the Bulldogs earned three walks to force the bases loaded with one out, but PC starting pitcher Will Smith forced a double play to leave a pair of Bulldogs stranded.
UNC Asheville tied the game at 1-all in the bottom of the second, as Cody Wilson connected with an RBI single to left field.
In the top of the third, the PC offense struck for five runs highlighted by a grand slam from Nick Wise.
One inning later, Wise led the Blue Hose to another five-run frame, as he connected with his second grand slam of the contest and moved the lead to 10-1. Later in the inning, Thatcher Coleman poked a double down the left field line to cap off the five-run inning and advanced the lead to 11-1.
Both teams went quietly in the fifth and sixth innings, as both squads combined for just one hit in the two frames.
The Blue Hose added two insurance runs in the top of the seventh to open the game to a 13-1 lead.
In the home half of the seventh inning, the Bulldogs nearly plated a run. Danny Wilson smacked a one-out single, and he later advanced to second on a passed ball. PC's pitcher threw an errant pitch, which allowed Danny Wilson to move to third and allowed Joe Zayatz to reach base safely via a walk.
However, the duo was left stranded after the Blue Hose forced a pop out and strike out to end the inning.
The Bulldogs made the game interesting in the bottom of the ninth, as Cody Wilson was hit by a pitch. He later moved to second base via a wild pitch. Following a fly out, Danny Wilson brought Cody Wilson home to plate the first Bulldog run in the last six innings. Zayatz recorded a walk to put a pair of Bulldogs on base. Joe Gruszka earned a five-pitch walk and forced the bases loaded. The Blue Hose went to the bullpen, and Maxx Harpalani forced Jake Madole to pop out and sealed the 13-2 win for PC.
