Women’s Golf Travels to Kentucky for Velvet Classic

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville Women's Golf team is back in action this week (Sept. 16-17) as the Bulldogs compete in the Velvet Classic, hosted by Murray State.
The tournament is played at the Country Club of Paducah and consists of 15 teams, playing 54 holes (36 Monday and 18 Tuesday), beginning with a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start. The course will be set up to play 6,030 yards and Par 72.
UNC Asheville Lineup: (1) Caroline Patterson, (2) Ally Kerr, (3) Jordyn Arts, (4) Beryl Giletti, (5) Morgan Guepet.
About the Bulldogs: Asheville enters the tournament coming off an eighth-place finish at the Tiger Classic, securing a two-round score of 602 (26-over). The Bulldogs finished ahead of their Big South Conference rivals USC Upstate (13th), Gardner-Webb (15th), and Presbyterian 16th) in their season opener. Caroline Patterson led the Bulldogs, finishing tied for 27th, shooting rounds of 75 and 73 (4-over). Beryl Giletti led Asheville through the first round as she shot for par. After shooting a 77 in the second round, she tied for 32nd (5-over).
About the Tournament Field: Asheville will play alongside Division I, NAIA, and NJCAA schools. Belmont University, which won the tournament last year, is among the teams competing again this year.
