Women’s Golf readies for the Buccaneer Classic

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team will continue its fall slate on Monday and Tuesday when it competes at the Buccaneer Classic from the Crowfield Golf Course in Goose Creek, S.C. The 54-hole tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. The start time each day will be 8:30 a.m.
Last Time Out – Asheville's last tournament was on October 3-4 at the Jupiter Women's Invitational. The Bulldogs posted their best performance of the fall season to date as they finished fifth and Madyson Gold finished tied for third.
Gold named Big South Golfer of the Week – For her play in Jupiter, Gold was named the Big South Women's Golfer of the Week on October 6. Overall, Gold finished with a +4 for the tournament, but she was a rapid mover in Tuesday's final round shooting a 67 (-3). Thanks to her -3, Gold moved up 15 spots in the final day alone. Gold's score of 67 is tied for the lowest score for a Bulldog in the short history of the program. Furthermore, led by Gold, the Bulldogs finished the third round with a team-record stroke total in a round finishing at 286.
About the Field – The Bulldogs will be joined for the tournament by Radford, Illinois State, Presbyterian, The Citadel, Gardner-Webb, Appalachian State, Western Carolina, Winthrop, and host Charleston Southern. The field, which will consist of 59 golfers overall, will feature Gold, Venecia Zaia, Phoebe Carles, Kayla Benge, Amber Capote, and Hailey Pendleton from Asheville.
