RALEIGH, N.C. - Despite three Bulldogs posting career single-game bests on Wednesday night, the UNC Asheville women's basketball team fell to NC State 87-55 inside Reynolds Coliseum.
BULLDOG BITES
Game Highlights
Highlighting the game was junior Jessica Wall's career night as she posted a single-game best in three-pointers (five). Her previous best was four, which she accomplished at Campbell last season. The Chapel Hill, N.C. native finished the game with 15 points, which was tied for the most on the squad.
Junior Ali Trani also recorded a personal victory in Raleigh as she posted  a career-best in points scored in a game with 10. She went 3-for-4 from the field and shot 4-for-6 from the charity stripe.
To cap off the career bests for the Bulldogs, Brooke Jordan-Brown blocked a pair of Wolfpack shots to set a new personal best for the sophomore.
Second Team All-Conference selection Khaila Webb matched Wall with 15 points as she has now been the team's leading scorer in back-to-back games. Webb, Wall and Trani were the three Bulldogs to score in double figures against the Wolfpack as the trio combined for 40 of the team's 55 points.
True freshman Amaryah Corpening tallied a strong second half where she recorded five of her seven total points. In the final 20 minutes, she went 2-for-3 from the field including draining her first collegiate three-pointer.
In the first game of her senior season, Bronaza Fitzgerald led the squad as she grabbed six rebounds.
The Pack jumped out quickly as they led 25-7 after the first quarter. However, the Bulldogs didn't surrender as they posted 18 points in the second and third quarters, which mark a single-quarter best for the team this season.
The Bulldogs drop to 0-2 on the year, while the Wolfpack advances to 3-0 for the seventh consecutive season.
Quotable
"With the exception of the first quarter, we played well, executed the game plan and fought hard. NC State shot the ball extremely well tonight, and we gave them too many easy opportunities off turnovers. I am very pleased with the growth of this team and appreciate their response after a tough first quarter."
