ATLANTA - UNC Asheville Women's Basketball has earned Special Academic Mention from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, announced recently by the organization.

To be recognized by the WBCA, a college women's basketball program has to post a team grade point average of at least 3.0 for the academic year.

This is the second year in a row under head coach Tynesha Lewis and the fifth time in program history that the Bulldogs have been recognized for their work in the classroom. The Bulldogs posted a 3.233 team grade point average for the 2025-26 academic year.

"The true definition of a student-athlete isn't choosing between academics and athletics—it's committing to excellence in both," said Coach Lewis. I'm proud of our UNC Asheville Women's Basketball team for earning a 3.0 team GPA."
