ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball squad begins their 2016-17 season with an exhibition match against Montreat Saturday, November 5 at Kimmel Arena beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Bulldogs are coming off a 22-12 season, a Big South Conference Tournament Championship, and a trip to the NCAA Tournament where they fell to eventual national champions, Villanova.
NOTABLES
Head to Head: UNC Asheville leads the series 20-2. The last meeting between the two teams was on Dec. 31, 2013 with the Bulldogs winning 80-41 at Kimmel Arena. The last Montreat win was 68-65 win on Nov. 24, 2005 in an exhibition game.
Exhibition Success: UNC Asheville has won its last 10 exhibition games. The last loss was a 75-72 loss to Mars Hill at Justice Center prior to the 2005-06 season. The Bulldogs are 5-0 in exhibition games at Kimmel Arena.
New Faces: The Bulldogs' squad has eight newcomers on the roster. Six of the new faces are freshman and two are transfers.
