Men’s Basketball Adds Abou Magassa to 2026 Signing Class

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball head coach Mike Morrell announced Monday (May 11) that Abou Magassa has signed his National Letter of Intent and will join the Bulldogs for the 2026–27 season.

The 6-foot-7 forward transfers to Asheville from Wyoming after spending two seasons with the Cowboys. Over his two-year stint, Magassa appeared in 49 games with 22 starts while averaging 12.6 minutes and 3.3 rebounds per game. He also shot an efficient .663 (65-of-98) from the field and averaged 3.3 points per game. 

A native of Morsang-sur-Orge, France, Magassa spent a redshirt season at Saint Louis before transferring to Wyoming.

Prior to his collegiate career, Magassa competed for Chorale Roanne Basket in Roanne, France. He averaged 10.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while also contributing 1.4 steals and 1.3 assists per contest. In the Espoirs U21 League, he shot better than 70 percent on two-point field goals and 36 percent from three-point range.
