Men’s Basketball Adds Two to 2026 Recruiting Class

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball announced Thursday (May 14) the additions of Khayri Dunn and Kelcy Phipps to its 2026 recruiting class.
Dunn arrives in Asheville after spending the 2025-26 season at Georgia Southern. The 6-1 guard from Conyers, Ga., appeared in 36 of 37 games for the Eagles, averaging 7.4 points per game in 17.5 minutes off the bench while shooting 39.7 percent from the floor.
Prior to his time with the Eagles, Dunn was at the College of Southern Idaho during the 2024–25 campaign, earning Region 18 First Team honors. He appeared in all 32 games for the Golden Eagles, making 21 starts while averaging 13.1 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game.
Dunn shot an efficient 48.6 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from beyond the arc while leading the team with 94 assists and ranking second with 418 total points. He scored in double figures 21 times and recorded seven 20-point performances, including a season-high 27 points against Northern Idaho on Jan. 4.
Dunn played his junior and senior seasons at Tucker High School. He finished his high school career with more than 1,000 career points and earned three All-Region selections along with 5A All-State honors.
Dunn comes from an accomplished athletic family. His sister, Chancie, played basketball at Clemson University, while his brother Khalil played baseball at Union University.
Phipps joins the Bulldog Basketball program after two seasons at Portland State University. During the 2025–26 season, Phipps appeared in 31 games with four starts for the Vikings, averaging 4.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 17.5 minutes per contest. He shot 43.1 percent from three-point range, which checks-in at No. 9 for single-season marks in program history.
Phipps posted a career-high 17 points in a win over Evergreen State on Nov. 19, knocking down five three-pointers in the contest. He also scored 15 points at Idaho State on Jan. 3 while finishing a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor. Additional standout performances included 14 points against Montana on March 10 and 11 points with three steals in a win over Idaho State on Feb. 2.
After redshirting during the 2023-24 season, Phipps earned Academic All-Big Sky Conference honors in 2024-25 while averaging 2.1 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game.
Before beginning his collegiate career, Phipps played at Bishop Montgomery High School in California, where he earned first-team All-Del Rey League honors and helped lead his team to two league championships.
