ASHEVILLE, N.C. —The UNC Asheville men's basketball team defeated Montreat in an exhibition game Saturday night at Kimmel Arena.
The Bulldogs stretched to a 21 point halftime lead, 47-26 at the break. Junior guard Kevin Vannatta led the way in the first half with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. The team went 16-27 (59.3%) from the field in the first half.
Asheville continued to extend their lead in the second half, finishing the night with a 101-59 victory. Freshman guard MaCio Teague shined in his first collegiate game with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Vannatta led the team with 17 points. Junior guard Ahmad Thomas led the team with 8 rebounds.

-The Bulldogs shot 32-61 (52.5%) from the field.
-Asheville out rebounded Montreat 45-42.
-The Bulldogs' inside game was very strong with 50 points in the paint.
