ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and Ryan Dull threw the Bulldogs first complete game of the season to lead Asheville to an 8-5 victory over High Point in the series finale on Monday.

Dull (2-5) allowed five runs (four earned) on 10 hits to give the Bulldogs their first complete game since Alan DeRatt threw 10 complete innings against High Point in the Big South Tournament on May 20, 2008.

Asheville (5-21, 3-7 Big South) got on the board first with an unearned run in the second inning. Mike Vaughn reached on an error and Reed Kreiser followed with a RBI double to right center field to score Vaughn.

High Point (7-14, 3-7 Big South) answered with five runs in the top of the third. Eric Marion led off with a double. Spencer Andrews had a bunt single in front of a RBI single by Pablo Rosario. Alfie Wheeler singled home Andrew to put the Panthers up 2-1. After a sacrifice bunt placed runners at second and third, Bill Manion had a infield single to score Rosario and Wheeler scored on a throwing error. Max Fulginitti had a RBI single later in the inning to make the score 5-1.

It stayed that way until the seventh. Jordan Lurie reached on an error to begin the inning. Danny Baatz followed with a single and Catlin Carter reached on a bunt single to load the bases. Kevin Weidenbacher's sacrifice fly plated Lurie and Justin Schumer doubled home Baatz to bring the score to 5-3. With the tying runs at second and third, Corey Swickle came on in relief of Jamie Serber. Swickle was greeted by Beau Zinman who delivered a two-RBI single to right field to tie the game. Vaughn singled and Swickle was replaced by Zach Scott. After a walk to Kreiser again loaded the bases, Lurie delivered a two-out, two-RBI single to center to put the Bulldogs up top 7-5.

The Bulldogs added an insurance run in the eighth inning. Carter lead off with a single as he went 2-for-5 in the game. Weidenbacher bunted Carter to second and Schumer moved him to third where he would score on a wild pitch.

Dull allowed just three hits after the five run third inning. He walked two and struck out two. Dull has won two of his three conference starts.

Baatz went 2-for-5 on Monday and went 7-for-15 in the series. Weidenbacher had a hit in all three games going7-for-14 in series and extending his hitting streak to nine games. Schumer also had a hit in all three games and has now hit in 11 straight games. He went 5-for-14 with four RBI in the series.

Swickle took the loss for High Point while facing just two batters falling to 0-1 on the season. Fulginitti went 8-for-14 on the series and drove in five runs for the Panthers.
