Overview: Last name is pronounced Bo-gard...should be a weekend starter for the Bulldogs in 2009...has great work ethic...battles hard on the mound...has been both a starter and worked out of the bullpen during his career.
2008: Second on team in wins (6) and inning pitched (83.0)...led the Bulldogs in strikeouts with 69...second in starts at 13...had a career-best nine strikeouts in first start of the year against Presbyterian as he went six innings in 4-2 victory (2-24)...struck out eight, allowed just four hits in eight innings of work in 4-1 win over Akron (3-2)...earned win over Marist (3-16) with seven strong innings and eight strikeouts....allowed only one earned run in six innings of work against Brown (3-23)...hard-luck loss at High Point (3-29) where he allowed just two unearned runs and gave up two hits in 6.1 innings pitched...earned win in starts against VMI (4-11) and Radford (4-26).
2007: Made six starts and 14 relief appearances...both wins came in relief...threw 2.1 innings in win at Campbell and two shutout innings in win at UAB...career-high six strikeouts in five innings at Southern University...made longest relief outing of his career, throwing 6.1 innings against Samford...threw a total of 50.2 innings in 20 apperances.
2006: Made first collegiate start against NC A&T on March 1, picked up the win, going five innings while giving up two runs on three hits...won first two starts and defeated Southland Conference champion Texas-Arlington...defeated Radford 9-1 in his first Big South start, striking out a season-high six.
Before UNC Asheville: Batted .368 with five home runs and 28 RBI as a senior and also had an 11-0 record as a pitcher with an 0.94 ERA for Ashbrook HS...as a junior, batted .328 with four home runs and 31 RBI...On the mound, had a 5-1 record with a 2.85 ERA while tossing two career no-hitters...won the state championship as a sophomore in 2003 and won conference championship from 2003-05...earned All-Conference and All-Gazette Team honors from 2003-05...Co-Conference Player of the Year and All-State selection in 2005.
