2017 (Senior): Helped guide UNC Asheville back to the Big South Conference Baseball Championship for the first time since 2012 as the Bulldogs advanced to the semifinal round for the first time since 2007 … Solidified himself as the Bulldogs’ starting right fielder … UNC Asheville finished second in NCAA Division I for outfield assists (18) with Carruthers tied for ninth in the nation with four outfield assists … Helped UNC Asheville finish third in the league with 47 double plays turned … Made 45 starts on the year in 54 appearances … Ended the season batting .195 with 33 hits, 19 runs scored, five extra-base knocks and 16 runs batted in … Swiped six bases on eight attempts … Was second on the team with three sacrifice flies … Had three multi-hit games, all with two hits … Went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI against Winthrop (3/18) … Went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs in the first game of the series against Presbyterian (3/24) … Went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored in the Bulldogs’ home win over USC Upstate (4/18) … Reached base safely in nine consecutive games from March 21 to April 2 … Had two five-game hitting streaks, including from March 21 to March 28 and from May 13 to May 19 … Reached base safely in 10 consecutive games at one point … Pitched in one game, going five innings in the regular-season finale at Gardner-Webb.
