2024 Season (Senior) - In his senior season, Newsome competed in all five indoor meets and all six outdoor meets...Began his final season with a PR in the 1000m at the Gamecock Opener (2:31.00)...Newsome helped the DMR team win at the Doc Hale VT Meet with a time of 10:13.54...Helped the DMR team earn bronze at the Big South Conference Indoor Championships (10:18.16)...Qualified for the finals in the 800m at the championships and finished in fifth with a time of 1:55.90...Transitioning to outdoor season, Newsome helped the 4x800 team finish third at the Charlotte 49er Classic (7:56.41)...At the UNC Asheville Bulldog Invite, Newsome helped the 4x400 team finish third with a time of 3:29.56, and Newsome finished second in the 800m with a time of 1:56.97...Earned a PR in the 1500m at the Georgia Tech Invitational with a time of 3:56.32...Represented Asheville at the Big South Conference Outdoor Championships where he competed in the 800m and 1500m...Made it to the finals in the 1500m where he finished 11th with a time of 4:04.11.Â
2022-23 Season (Junior) - As a junior, Newsome competed in 11 meets for the Bulldogs...Began his junior campaign by winning the mile run at the John Weaver Invitational in Boone with a time of 4:23.87...Picked up at least one top-10 finish at all of the indoor meets for Asheville in 2022-23...Finished fourth in the 800-meter run (1:55.05) and eighth in the mile (4:22.38) at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships...In the outdoor season, Newsome finished as the runner-up in the 800-meter run (1:54.76) at the Montreat Open...At the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Newsome finished fourth in the 800m (1:54.31) and eighth in the 1500m run (4:18.54).Â
2021-22 Season (Sophomore) - During his second season with the program, Newsome participated in four meets beginning with the Montreat Invitational in late March...Helped the Bulldogs' 4x800-meter relay team finish second with a time at Montreat with a time of 7:46.86...Finished out his sophomore campaign at the Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships...Finished 11th in the 1500-meter run (4:00.91) and 17th in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:25.90).Â
2020-21 Season (Freshman) - As a freshman, Newsome competed in five meets...He made his collegiate track & field debut at the ETSU Track & Field Invitational in early January where he took part in the 800-meter run and the one mile run...Closed out his freshman campaign at the Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships...Placed 18th in the 800-meter run (2:03.41) and 14th in the mile (4:37.91).
