2025 Big South Conference Indoor Championships All-Academic Team
2025 Season (Sophomore) - In his sophomore campaign, Surles competed in five indoor meets and four outdoor meets...Was a part of the DMR team that nearly podiumed at the Big South Indoor Championships as the squad finished fourth in 10:26.11...had a PR in the 3000m with a time of 8:48.07 at the Gamecock Challenge...Had two PRs at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational in the 800m (2:02.61) and in the mile (4:25.13)...Primarily focused on the 1500m during outdoor season with his best time being at the Catamount Classic in which he ran the event in 4:14.19.
2024 Season (Freshman) - In his freshman season as a Bulldog, Lance competed in 10 meets, four indoor and six outdoor...He made his collegiate debut at the Gamecock Opener where he ran the 1000m and finished 10th (2:43.53)...Recorded a PR in the 1000m at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational with a time of 2:39.14...Represented Asheville at the Big South Indoor Championships in the mile and PRed with a time of 4:33.53...In outdoor season, Lance recorded a PR in the 800m at the Montreat College Open with a time of 2:03.95...At the Big South Outdoor Championships, he recorded a PR in the 1500m (4:03.42) and the 5000m (16:08.31).
Prior to UNC Asheville - State Qualifier in Cross Country in 2021 and 2022...State Qualifier in Outdoor Track & Field in the 3200...2023 Runner-Up in 3200m...Regional Outdoor Track in 2023 in 1000m,1600m,3200m and was an Indoor Track Conference Winner in 2023.
