Bulldogs Conclude Weekend Meets with Strong All-Around Performances

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — The UNC Asheville track & field program turned in a strong all-around performance across two meets over the weekend, highlighted by a school record, 17 top-10 individual finishes, and a relay victory.
RALEIGH RELAYS
Aneta Kucerová set a new school record in the women's 3,000m steeplechase to highlight the Bulldogs in Raleigh on Friday (March 27). She broke the record at 10:18.97 (17th overall) and now holds the fifth fastest time in Big South history and is No. 2 in the NCAA Southeast Region.
Jan Malek competed on the men's side of the 3,000m steeplechase and finished 34th with a time of 9:06.33.
DAVIDSON RELAYS
The Bulldogs were led by standout performances on the track, including a dominant showing in the relays. Asheville's 4x400m relay "A" team of Jalice Payton, Shemarr Session, Braelin June, and Jeremiah Louis captured the event title with a time of 3:17.00, while the "B" squad of Nkosi Jeju, Ty'vell Foskey, Jaheem O'Hara and Bennett Moreno added a third-place finish (3:22.96). The men's 4x100m relay "A" team of Demorris Jordan, Foskey, Gabriel Buie and Session, placed third in 41.44.
On the women's side of the relays, Asheville's 4x100m relay team of Kieayla Williams, Alexis Vaughan, Zoey Marrero and Kamryn Peeples placed third (49.52), while the 4x400m relay "A" squad of Francesca Cergol, Williams, Vaughan and Peeples finished fourth (3:59.68).
Individually, Shemarr Session delivered one of the top performances of the meet, finishing second in the 110m hurdles (14.80). Freshman Jalice Payton also delivered one of the best performances of the day with a runner-up finish in the 400m (48.21).
In the middle-distance events, Asheville showcased depth, led by Bennett Moreno's fourth-place finish in the 800m (1:53.63), followed by Jaheem O'Hara in seventh. On the women's side, Ella Warren placed fourth in the 800m (2:19.05).
In the first outdoor mile race in program history, Tadiyos Sloan-Westmoreland paced the Bulldogs with a fourth-place finish (4:23.31) and on the women's side Marika Dickel led the Bulldogs with a ninth-place finish (5:16.62).
Sloan-Westmoreland also had a fourth place finish in the 3000m (8:46.50), while Jonas Roach added a fifth-place finish in the 3000m.
In the sprints, Nkos Jeju led Asheville in the 100m with a fifth-place finish (10.66), while freshman Demorris Jordan placed sixth in the 200m (21.72). The Bulldogs also saw solid depth across both sprint events on the men's and women's sides.
In the field events, Madison Hannah led the way with a fifth-place finish in the discus (43.37m) and finished ninth in the hammer throw (41.07m). Jaelyn Arnold finished eighth in the shot put at 12.30m.
