2022 Season (Sophomore) - During his second season in Asheville, Ponder appeared in 19 games and made nine starts...Overall, Ponder went 0-3 with a 6.35 ERA in 39.2 innings pitched to go along with 31 strikeouts...Some standout outings for Ponder in 2022 included a 2.2-inning scoreless appearance at Western Carolina that led to a Bulldog victory...He also tossed three scoreless innings on the road at Radford on April 22...Also kept Big South foe Winthrop off the scoreboard in a two-inning appearance on May 19...Started for Asheville in the third game the team played at the Big South Baseball Tournament...In that start, Ponder threw a career-high five innings, allowed two runs on four hits, and struck out two. Â
2021 Season (Freshman) - As a freshman, Ponder appeared in 10 games for Asheville in 2021...All of Ponder's appearances were out of the bullpen and covered 11.2 innings...Ponder made his Bulldog debut on March 6 at High Point where he tossed one inning of relief...Pitched a season-high two innings twice as a freshman with one coming March 20 vs. Campbell and the other coming at Campbell on April 30.Â
Prior to UNC Asheville - Ponder comes to Asheville from Mitchell High School in Bakersville, North Carolina...He struck out 22 hitters and posted a 1.40 ERA during his abbreviated senior season in 2020...As a junior in 2019, Ponder went 5-1 with a 2.40 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 40 innings pitched...Following his season in 2019, Ponder was named the Conference Pitcher of the Year.
