Asheville Climbs Leaderboard Following Strong Second Round at Big South Championship

FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – UNC Asheville made a significant move up the leaderboard on Monday (April 20) during the second round of the 2026 Big South Conference Women's Golf Championship, climbing into a tie for fourth place after posting one of the lowest team rounds of the day.
The Bulldogs followed up Sunday's 314 (+26) with an impressive 302 (+14) in round two, bringing their two-day total to 616 (+40) and positioning themselves firmly in contention heading into the final round.

PLAYER SUMMARY
Leading the charge for Asheville was Caroline Patterson, who fired one of the top rounds of the tournament with a 67 (-5) on Monday. She surged into third place on the individual leaderboard with a two-round total of 146 (+2), recording the lowest round of the tournament thus far. The 67 marks the second time in her Bulldog career that Patterson has posted that score, and she was the only player in the field to shoot under par in the second round.
Breanna Hoese continued her steady play, carding a 75 (+3) in the second round to sit tied for 11th at 152 (+8). Jordyn Arts improved by seven strokes as she shot a 76 (+4) and moved into a tie for 23rd.
Rounding out the scoring lineup, Lauren Madson sits in 31st place after shooting an 84 (+12), while Pennie Osterberg is tied for 33rd after shooting an 86 (+14).
Asheville will look to carry its momentum into tomorrow's final round of stroke play. The top four teams following the completion of stroke play will advance to match play on Wednesday (April 22). The Bulldogs will begin teeing off at 8:54 a.m.
Asheville will look to move up again during the third and final of the Big South Championship tomorrow.
