Asheville Completes First Round of Big South Championship

FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – UNC Asheville women's golf sits seventh on the leaderboard following the opening round of the 2026 Big South Conference Women's Golf Championship on Sunday (April 19).

The Bulldogs posted a team score of 314 (+26) through the first 18 holes, just two strokes behind Charleston Southern (+24) and one stroke ahead of Presbyterian (+27). High Point leads the nine-team field after carding a 293 (+5) in round one.

PLAYER SUMMARY

Breanna Hoese led Asheville in the opening round with a 77 (+5), placing in a seven-way tie for 13th on the individual leaderboard.

Caroline Patterson, Lauren Madson, and Pennie Osterberg each turned in rounds of 79 (+7), sitting in a four-way tie for 26th.

Jordyn Arts rounded out the Bulldogs with an 83 (+11), tying for 35th overall. She paced the team with three birdies in the first round.

Asheville will return to the course Monday for round two of the Big South Championship. The Bulldogs will begin teeing off at 8 a.m.
