Asheville Rallies to Fourth-Place Finish at Bentwater Women’s Collegiate

ACWORTH, Ga. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team used a strong final-round push to climb the leaderboard and finish fourth at the Bentwater Women's Collegiate, hosted at Bentwater Golf Club (par 72, 6,091 yards).

Asheville entered the final round tied for seventh after rounds of 308 (+20) and 317 (+29), but responded with its best performance of the tournament on Tuesday. The Bulldogs carded a 305 (+17) in the final round—improving by 12 strokes from round two—to surge three spots into fourth place with a total score of 930 (+66).

The Bulldogs finished Monday's two-round opener tied with Big South foe Winthrop. The Eagles finished in ninth place, and the Bulldogs moved ahead of West Georgia, Eastern Kentucky and Northern Colorado who all led Asheville entering today's final round.

Strong Individual Performances Lead the Way

The Bulldogs were led by a pair of top-six finishers, starting with Breanna Hoese who paced Asheville with a fifth-place finish at 227 (+11), posting consistent rounds of 74, 77, and 76. 

Junior Caroline Patterson closed strong to tie for sixth at 228 (+12). Patterson fired a final-round 74 (+2), matching the lowest round by an Asheville player during the tournament and helping fuel the team's climb up the standings.

Depth Fuels Final-Round Surge

Jordyn Arts played a key role in the final round as she shot a 75 on Tuesday to finish tied for 24th at 235 (+19). 

Pennie Osterberg shot three rounds of 80 to finish tied for 39th (+24), while Lauren Madson rounded out the scoring lineup with a 252 (+36), finishing tied for 61st.

Competing as an individual, Sydney Craven finished tied for 69th at 265 (+49).
