05.16.2025 | Baseball
The Bulldogs struck first in the home half of the opening inning, with a jumpstart leadoff single from Corbin Lanowitz. After the first out was recorded, Rylen Stockton would drive a single to center field to push Lanowitz to second before Patrick Gillen poked a double down the right field line to bring Lanowitz home and move Stockton to third. Blaize Johnson brought Stockton home on an infield single to third and Asheville was able to get starter Clay Edmondson an early lead. Upstate would counter with two runs to tie the game in the top of the second, before the Bulldogs regained the lead with two in the bottom of the inning. Lanowitz would start the inning with a one-out single down the left field line, before Logan Lowe pushed him to second with a single to center field. Stockton would deliver the big blow in the inning putting a double up against the wall in left field to score both runners. Upstate would counter with one run in the top of the fourth, before the teams would trade blank frames until the bottom of the eighth. Lanowitz pushed home Caiden Chilausky on a squeeze play to add one insurance run for the Bulldogs in the frame, before Upstate rallied for the win with four runs in the ninth.
