Baseball Drops Game One to Charleston Southern, Game Two Suspended

Game One
Charleston Southern struck for one run in the first, before the teams would trade scoreless frames in the second and Asheville would score twice to take a 2-1 lead in the third. Asheville's third inning began with back-to-back singles from Logan Lowe and Rylen Stockton, before Patrick Gillen singled to right to load the bases with nobody out. Blaize Johnson scored Lowe on a sacrifice fly to center, before Jake Minarik doubled to center to score Stockton and put Asheville ahead 2-1. Asheville would add one run in the top of the fifth when Jake Minarik blasted a solo shot, his ninth of the season to center to stretch Asheville's lead to 3-1. Asheville would stretch its lead to 6-1 in the sixth, putting up three runs in an inning that began with Owen Michelson being hit by a pitch. After a sacrifice bunt by Jake Pereira pushed pinch runner Isaac Turner to second, Corbin Lanowitz drew a walk to put two runners on with one out. Turner would move to third on a fly ball to Lowe, before Stockton blasted his sixth home run of the season off the light pole in left center to plate three runs for the Bulldogs. Charleston Southern would get three runs in the home half of the seventh to make it a 6-4 ballgame, before rallying for four runs in the eighth to secure the win.
Minarik matched his career-best going 4-5 to lead the offense with two runs batted in and one run scored, while Lanowitz, Lowe and Stockton each had two hits along with one hit from Gillen. Stockton also drove in three runs in the game, while Johnson also brought home one. Stockton scored twice in the game, while Lanowitz, Lowe, Minarik and Isaac Turner each scored one run. Clay Edmondson turned in another strong start for the Bulldogs firing 6.1 innings allowing four runs on nine hits with one just one walk and eight strikeouts. Matthew Hall relieved Edmondson with 0.2 innings of scoreless relief, before handing the ball off to Garrett Crum. Crum (2-3) took the loss in relief, allowing four runs on three hits in 0.2 innings with two walks and one strikeout. Nic Melton came on to get the final defensive out for Asheville in the game.
Game Two
Charleston Southern built a 3-0 lead through two innings, before Asheville responded with one run in the top of the third when Stockton singled home Pereira. Charleston Southern would plate 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth, before each team would score two in the fifth. Lanowitz led off the inning being hit by a pitch, before Lowe pushed him to second with a single through the left side. Later in the inning, Johnson would rip a two-out double down the right field line to plate two runs. Asheville would add one run in the sixth inning before the game was suspended, with Brock Mercado scoring on a single to second base by Michelson after leading off the inning with a double.
