Baseball Falls to Radford in Series Finale on Sunday

Radford opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first, before adding three more in the third to build a 5-0 lead. Asheville would get one on the board in the home half on Jake Pereira's first career home run, a solo shot to left field. Radford would add one run in the top half of the fourth, before Asheville would respond with two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Patrick Gillen would lead off the bottom of the fourth with his fifth home run of the year, a solo shot to left before Jake Minarik would get things going with a one-out single to left. Brock Mercado would rip a two-out single up the middle to move Minarik to third, before Jake Pereira brought home a run with an infield single. Radford would tack on two runs in the fifth, before Gillen brought home Rylen Stockton on a double to left center for Asheville to bring in one in the home half. Radford picked up one insurance run in the top of the seventh, before Asheville would get one in the home half of the seventh and one in the eighth to bring the game to its final score.

Asheville outhit Radford 12-11 in the game, led by three hits apiece from Minarik and Gillen. Mercado and Pereira each had two hits in the game, while Corbin Lanowitz and Stockton each had one. Gillen and Pereira each drove in two runs, while Minarik also drove in one. Minarik also scored twice, while Logan Lowe, Stockton, Gillen and Pereira each scored once. Minarik also stole one base in the game, while Stockton threw out one baserunner from behind the dish. Daylinh Nguyen-Brown (0-4) took the loss on the mound for Asheville, allowing five runs on six hits with one walk and one strikeout in three innings. He was relieved by 2.2 innings from Matthew Hall who allowed three runs, one earned with two walks and two strikeouts. Branden Barna added 1.2 innings of relief allowing one run on three hits with one walk, while Ryland Howell contributed 1.2 innings of scoreless relief allowing one hit along with one strikeout.
