Baseball Drops Series Opener at High Point Thursday Night

Asheville struck for two runs in the top of the first when Rylen Stockton blasted his third home run of the season to left center to score Logan Lowe, before High Point countered with one run in the home half of the first. High Point scored eight runs through the first three innings, before Blaize Johnson would score Stockton on his first of two doubles on the night in the fourth. High Point would add one run in the fifth, five runs in the seventh and one run in the eighth to bring the game to its final score.

Johnson paced the offense with two hits in the game, while Lowe, Stockton, Jake Minarik and Caiden Chilausky each had one hit in the game. Stockton drove in two runs in the game, while Johnson also added one RBI. Stockton scored twice in the game, while Lowe also scored one run. Tony Lopez (0-4) took the loss for Asheville, before being relieved by Shea Walker and Nic Melton. Walker fired a career-high 4.2 innings out of the bullpen scattering five hits allowing four runs with two walks and two strikeouts, before Melton tossed two innings allowing four runs on five hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
