Asheville opened the game in a big way, striking for five runs on four hits in the top half of the first. After Coleman McGinnis drew a walk, Patrick Gillen would launch his first home run as a Bulldog over the right center field wall to give Asheville a 5-0 lead. Asheville would add another run in the third on Jake Minarik's first career home run, a solo shot to left. The teams would trade blank frames until the top of the seventh, when Lowe was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning before advancing to second on a wild pitch. He would come around to score on a fielding error off the bat of Rylen Stockton, as Stockton advanced to second on the play. Gardner-Webb would score four runs in the home half of the seventh and one in the bottom of the eighth, before plating one run in the ninth and leaving the tying run at third as Daylinh Nguyen-Brown recorded a huge punchout to end the game.
