Probable Pitching Matchup
TBA (Queens) vs. RHP Dawson Salter (AVL) – 5 p.m. | Live Stats | ESPN+
Last Time Out – The Bulldogs rallied from an early deficit to finish off a three-game sweep of Radford on Sunday afternoon by a score of 14-9. Asheville, which won the other two games by scores of 6-5 and 22-10, is now 24-24 overall and 10-14 in Big South play.
Protecting Home Field – With three home victories over the weekend, the Bulldogs have won 19 home games this season. The 19 home wins are the most in a single season in program history. If Asheville can knock off Queens on Tuesday, it'll join Campbell and USC Upstate as Big South teams that have won 20 or more games at home this season.
Bacot Nearing RBI Record – Dylan Bacot has not only been Asheville's top run producer in 2023 but he also has been one of the nation's top players at driving in runs. Bacot has driven in 57 runs this season, which is two shy of tying Asheville's single season program record of 59 set by Brian Shehan in 1989.
A Program First Within Reach – Asheville has an opportunity to achieve something this week that has rarely happened in the program's history. If the Bulldogs go 4-0 this week, it'll match the most wins in a single season in program history matching the 2006 Bulldogs who also finished with 28 wins. If Asheville goes 3-1, it'll clinch the first winning season in the history of the program.
About Queens – Queens, which is in its first season as a Division I program, will bring a 15-36 record with it to Asheville on Tuesday. The Royals are coming off a series win over Bellarmine over the weekend where they won two of the three games by scores of 4-0 and 11-0. A player to watch for Queens is Riley Cheek. Cheek leads the Royals hitting .333 with 11 home runs and 37 RBI. He also paces the team with nine stolen bases and 18 doubles.
Series Rewind vs. the Royals – The Bulldogs and Royals have met just once previously and that occurred earlier this season. Asheville came away with a 17-11 win over Queens in a matchup played in Charlotte. Bacot had a four-hit game, while Corbin Lanowitz collected three hits and drove in four runs to lead the way for the Bulldogs in that victory.
