Baseball Welcomes USC Upstate to Greenwood Field This Weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville baseball team will be back in action this weekend with a Big South series against USC Upstate. The series, which will run Friday through Sunday at Greenwood Field, has game times set for 5 p.m. on Friday, 3 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Promotions – Thanks to the partnership with Ingles, admission to all three games this weekend will be free. Furthermore, alcohol will be available for purchase on Friday and Saturday. Friday night's game will also be the team's Mental Health Awareness Game.

Burnett and Bacot Powering the Bulldog Bats – The duo of Robbie Burnett and Dylan Bacot have been key cogs in Asheville's batting order all season long. Both Burnett (3rd - .385) and Bacot (6th - .362) rank among the top 10 hitters in the Big South. Furthermore, Burnett has launched 10 home runs this spring, which has already doubled his home run total from last season. Bacot, meanwhile, leads all Big South players in RBI (43) and doubles (14).
Starters Pitching Well – Clay Edmondson and Ryan Douglas have been staples in Asheville's starting rotation all season long. These two pitchers have combined for a 10-1 record and both have ERAs under 3.50. Edmondson has allowed zero earned runs in two of his last three starts, while Douglas was stellar in the month of March with a 3-0 record and a 2.14 ERA.

Upstate is a balanced team ranking in the upper half of the conference in both team batting average and team ERA. A player to watch for the Spartans this weekend is Grant Herrod. Herrod leads the way for Upstate in both home runs (8) and RBI (38) to go along with a .314 batting average.
