ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville baseball team looks to continue their hot start on Wednesday when they host Boston College at Greenwood Field in a non-conference matchup. First pitch between the Bulldogs and Eagles is scheduled for 4 p.m. on ESPN+.

Probable Pitching Matchup
LHP Bryce Fisher (Asheville) vs RHP Luke Delongchamp (Boston College)

Best Start Since - Asheville's 8-3 start in 2023 is one of the best in program history. After sweeping the series vs Iona this past weekend, the Bulldogs have won their first three weekend series. This feat has only been accomplished once before in the 2008 season, where Asheville won three out of four series to start, losing only a two-game midweek series to Florida State. Asheville only needs two more wins this week to be the fastest team in program history to 10 wins.

Best in the Big South - After a dominating weekend on the diamond, the Bulldogs are among the league leaders in numerous team statistical categories. Asheville's pitching has shined early on, collectively leading in ERA (4.31), saves (4), and have held batters to a league low average of .222 and total hits (74). In hitting categories, the Bulldogs hold a league low in strikeouts (74) and are second place in runs (88), RBI's (79), walks (60), on-base percentage (.408), and tied for second place in home runs with 14.

Big South Players of the Week - The Bulldogs claimed both Big South Pitcher of the Week and Player of the Week, with RHP Ryan Douglas and outfielder Dylan Bacot exhibiting outstanding performances against Iona. Douglas pitched a career game last Saturday, going seven innings of scoreless baseball with a career high 11 strikeouts without walking a batter and only two baserunners reaching scoring position against him. Bacot had a monster week, hitting .412 (7-of-17) with a 1.059 slugging percentage, three home runs, and 15 RBI. He collected multi-hit games with a home run in each of the first three games of the week and collected three-plus RBI in each of his four games last week.

Burnett Leading the Way - Sophomore outfielder Robbie Burnett is having an impressive start to the season, leading the team in home runs, total bases and slugging after hitting three home runs this past weekend. Burnett ranks high among Big South hitters, with his slugging, OPS, runs, RBI's, walks, and home runs ranking at least top three in the conference.

About Boston College - Like Asheville, Boston College is off to a hot start, coming in with an 8-1 record and an eight game winning streak. Boston College draws strength from their defense, leading all Division I programs in fielding percentage. The Eagles are also a tough pitching matchup, ranking 20th nationally in ERA (3.04).

Series Rewind vs Boston College - The Bulldogs have only faced Boston College once before, in a 2018 contest at Greenwood field that ended in a 8-0 win for the Eagles. Asheville will be looking for its first win against an ACC school since 2016 when the Bulldogs defeated North Carolina, 3-2.
