Bulldog Offense Explodes in Victory against Queens (N.C.), 17-11
03.14.2023 | Baseball
The Bulldogs put up a season-high 17 runs against the Royals, the majority of which came in the first four innings. The Asheville hitters were led by the heart of their order, with Robbie Burnett (2-3, two runs scored, one RBI, one HR) and Corbin Lanowitz (3-4, three runs scored, four RBI) continuing their outstanding seasons by accounting for five hits and 10 runs in the first four innings.
Â
Dylan Bacot also continued his 11-game hitting streak in dominant fashion, going 4-5, with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs scored. Bacot now leads the Big South in doubles (nine) and runs batted in (26), and has reached base in his last 18 games stretching back to last season.Um...I think that ball landed back in Asheville 🤯🤯 Robbie Burnett with a MOON SHOT and the Dawgs are up 14.#ALLinAVL #TTS pic.twitter.com/MpPikYYgBE

Bryce Fisher (1-1) started on the mound for the Bulldogs and pitched one of the best outings of his career, only allowing one hit, two walks and holding the Royals scoreless in four innings.Â
After the Bulldogs established a 16-run lead by the fourth inning, Queens looked to turn the tables on the Bulldog bullpen. The Royals chipped away, scoring 10 unanswered runs in the final five innings. Queens threatened to make the game even closer, loading the bases multiple times. Luckily freshman pitcher Branden Barna was able to strike out the side with the bases loaded, and Nick Bruno getting key pop outs to keep the comeback out of reach for the Royals. Dawson Salter ended the game on the mound for the Bulldogs, allowing one run in the ninth but held the lead and brought the game to the final score of 17-11.
