Bulldogs Blank Radford to Open Big South Conference Play

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville women's tennis blanked visiting Radford 7-0 on Sunday (Feb. 26) to open Big South Conference play at the Asheville Racquet Club. The eighth consecutive win for the Bulldogs ties a program record for the longest win streak, marking the second time the Bulldogs have won eight in a row since 2007 (2022).
The Bulldogs won two out of three doubles matches for the doubles point, before sweeping singles play for the shutout victory. Linge Steenkamp and Ari Siegel defeated Lexi Smolder and Brooke Murphy 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, before Valeria Centeno and Elizabeth Tindera beat Camryn McClure and Ameek Batth 6-1 at No. 3 doubles.
Ami Grace Dougah defeated Julia Abrams 6-0, 7-6 at No. 1 singles, before Steenkamp beat Emily Brandow 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2. Elizabeth Tindera was able to rally from dropping the first set at No. 3 for a 4-6, 7-6, 10-5 win over Smolder, before Rosie Dickson beat McClure 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4. Avery Sager would beat Murphy 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5, before Centeno bested Batth 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.
