Women's Tennis Welcomes UNC Wilmington, Western Carolina in Non-Conference Action This Weekend

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville women's tennis welcomes UNC Wilmington and Western Carolina this weekend in non-conference action. Saturday's match against UNC Wilmington will start at 1:00 p.m., while Sunday's match against Western Carolina will start at 3:00 p.m.

About the Bulldogs - The Bulldogs come into the weekend winners of five straight with a 5-1 record on the season. Asheville has posted a 12-6 doubles record so far on the season, along with a 26-10 singles record. Elizabeth Tindera and Valeria Centeno own a 5-1 doubles record on the season, while Ari Siegel and Linge Steenkamp have four doubles wins on the year and Ami Grace Dougah and Rosie Dickson have three. Dougah leads the way in singles play with six wins, while Steenkamp also has five wins. Avery Sager and Elizabeth Tindera each have four singles wins on the year, while Centeno also has three singles wins on the season. Dickson has posted two wins on the year, while Beatrice Faureng also has one win on the year.

About the Seahawks - UNC Wilmington enters the matchup at 3-0 on the season after a 7-0 win at Presbyterian on Thursday (Feb. 9). The Seahawks own a combined 7-2 record in doubles play as well as a 13-3 combined singles record. Eda Arli and Lauren Gish lead the team with three doubles wins, while the tandems of Anna Daniels and Zoe Huffman and Lauren Robbins and Stela Joksimovic each have two doubles wins on the season. Arli, Gish and Huffman each have three singles wins on the season, while Daniels and Gabbie Glickstein each have two singles wins on the year.

About the Catamounts - Western Carolina comes into the weekend at 2-2 overall after back-to-back losses at No. 22 Tennessee back on Feb. 1. The Catamounts have a combined 3-7 record in doubles play, with three different doubles teams posting one win apiece. Western Carolina has also combined for a 12-9 singles record on the year, with five different players posting two wins apiece and another two each having one win.  

Series History - This will be the eighth all-time matchup between Asheville and UNC Wilmington, with UNCW leading the series 6-1. The Seahawks captured the last win in the series 7-0 back on Mar. 11, 2022. This will be the 18th all-time matchup between Asheville and Western Carolina, with Asheville leading the all-time series 12-5. The Bulldogs won the last matchup 4-3 back on Mar. 17, 2022.
