ASHEVILLE, N.C.  – The UNC Asheville baseball team will be back in action this weekend when they travel to take on Presbyterian for a three-game Big South series. Friday's series opener is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch, while Saturday's and Sunday's tilts are set for 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. start times. All three games will air on ESPN+.

Probable Pitching Matchups
Game 1: TBA (AVL) vs. LHP Charlie McDaniel (PC) – 6 p.m. (ESPN+)
Game 2: RHP Ryan Douglas (AVL) vs. RHP Duncan Howard (PC) – 3 p.m. (ESPN+)
Game 3: LHP Jacob Edwards (AVL) vs. RHP Daniel Eagen (PC) – 1 p.m. (ESPN+)

Last Time Out – Asheville dropped a neutral site contest to Appalachian State on Tuesday by a score of 11-1. The game was played at the home of the Hickory Crawdads, the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The Bulldogs are now 9-14 overall on the 2022 campaign with the loss.

Bulldog bats are heating up in Big South play - The Bulldogs are off to their best six-game start in conference play since 2003 (4-2), and a big reason why is the offensive production. Asheville is hitting .319 as a team vs. Big South competition and is averaging eight runs per game. Dominic Freeberger (.462) and Cam Johnson (.409) are leading the charge among qualifying hitters.

Among the Nation's Best at turning two – The Bulldogs are among the nation's top teams at turning the double play in 2022. Asheville has notched a total of 21 double plays this season, which ranks 22nd in the nation.

Edwards and K's – Senior lefthander Jacob Edwards, who is scheduled to make the start Sunday for the Bulldogs, needs just five more strikeouts to move into Asheville's top-10 career strikeout list. Edwards has struck out a total of 167 hitters in his career as a Bulldog so far and leads Asheville so far with 40 strikeouts in 36 innings pitched.

About Presbyterian – PC enters the weekend sporting a record of 10-14 overall and 1-5 in Big South action. The Blue Hose are coming off a victory on Tuesday over perennial SEC power South Carolina, 9-6. A strength for Presbyterian has been its ability to beat its opponents in multiple ways offensively. Eight different hitters have launched at least one home run, and eight have swiped at least one base. Eric Toth is a player to watch as he is hitting .319 with three home runs, 14 RBI, and seven stolen bases.

Series Rewind vs. PC – Presbyterian holds the edge in the all-time series against the Bulldogs, winning 27 of the 44 meetings. However, PC and Asheville split the six matchups last year, with no game being decided by more than five runs.
