ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Looking to snap its two-match losing streak, UNC Asheville Women's Tennis travels down the road to Western Carolina to face the Catamounts on Thursday afternoon.
The Bulldogs were dealt a 7-0 loss on Friday at UNC Wilmington, with the duo of Linge Steenkamp and Ari Siegel collecting the only victory of the day on the No. 2 doubles court.
Western Carolina comes into the match at 9-4 and are 2-0 against Big South opponents, collecting two 6-1 wins over Presbyterian and Gardner-Webb.
Since 2004, the Bulldogs hold the edge 11-5, but the Catamounts have taken four out of the last five matchups dating back to 2016.
Asheville was able to corral the doubles point in last year's matchup, but Lize Alet Morkel was the only Bulldog to secure a singles victory in a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win on the No. 1 court in a 5-2 match loss to WCU.
Thursday's match in Cullowhee will take place at 12:00 p.m.
