ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team will hit the road for the final time during the regular season on Wednesday when the Bulldogs travel to take on High Point. Tip-off between the Bulldogs and Panthers is scheduled for 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
Last Time Out – Asheville got off to a fast start on Saturday in its game vs. USC Upstate, but the Spartans came away with the win, 68-57.
Nadiria Nears Another Record – Nadiria Evans has broken several records during her fifth season as a Bulldog in 2021-22. Evans, the current Big South scoring average leader (19.3 PPG), needs to score just 44 more points to break the program's Division I single-season scoring record of 506 points held by Emily Hill (1997-98).
Adams continues to rack up Assists – After missing some games in January, Faith Adams has returned to the lineup and helped facilitate the Bulldog offense. In three of her last four games, Adams has notched at least five assists. This streak has included a pair of six-assist outings for Adams, which matches a career-high.
Away from Asheville Notes – Four of Asheville's seven wins on the season have been on the road. The Bulldogs own road victories against Western Carolina (74-72), Wofford (70-64), East Tennessee State (66-56), and Charleston Southern (59-47). Evans has led Asheville on the road this season as she is averaging over 21 points (21.6) in 14 games played away from Kimmel Arena.
About High Point – After posting a 3-8 record in non-conference play, High Point looks more like the team that won the Big South regular season and tournament championships last season recently. HPU is 12-4 in Big South play and has won three straight games with victories over Charleston Southern (twice) and Winthrop. The Panthers are a team that is very reliant on 3-point shooting as they rank 13th in Division I women's basketball in 3-pointers attempted.
Series Rewind vs. High Point – Historically, High Point has held the edge in the all-time series against the Bulldogs, winning 41 of the 58 matchups. One of those HPU victories came on January 18 when the Panthers knocked off the Bulldogs, 61-57, at Kimmel Arena. In 2020-21, the two teams split the back-to-back meetings on the Panthers' home floor (AVL win – 63-54, HPU win – 77-63).
