Men’s Soccer welcomes Winthrop to Greenwood Field on Saturday for Senior Day

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer team will return home to Greenwood Field on Saturday to host Winthrop in a Big South matchup. Saturday's contest, which will also be the team's Senior Day, is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
Bulldog Big Blue Weekend – Saturday's match is a part of the 'Bulldog Big Blue Weekend'. At the end of the weekend, a lucky student will win the grand prize of a LED Smart TV. To learn more about the Bulldog Big Blue Weekend, click HERE.
Senior Day Sendoff – Be sure to come to the match early on Saturday as beforehand, the Bulldogs will honor their eight seniors. The eight seniors that will be recognized will be: Grant Stidham, Sean McGinty, Dominic Miller, David McIver, AJ DeVivo, Andrew Rossetti, Jake Kemhadjian, and Sammy Kiliman.
Last Time Out – Asheville fell on the road at Campbell last Saturday by a score of 3-1 in its last match. With Saturday's loss to the Camels, the Bulldogs are now 1-8-3 overall and 0-1-2 in Big South play.
Sam scores again – Sam Pitts-Eckersall netted his fifth goal of the season in Saturday's match at Campbell. Pitts-Eckersall's fifth goal is the most by a Bulldog in a single season since 2016 when Zach Joens tallied eight goals.
About Winthrop – The Eagles won their first match of the season last Saturday against Longwood, 1-0. Winthrop. A strength for Winthrop so far in 2022 has been its ability to get shots on net as it ranks 24th nationally in shot accuracy coming in at a .483 clip.
Series Rewind vs. the Eagles – The all-time series between the Bulldogs and Winthrop consists of nearly 40 matches. Winthrop has held the edge in the previous outings with a record of 23-12-3 against Asheville. The Bulldogs are looking for their second win in the last three seasons against the Eagles after knocking them off during the spring season in 2021, 2-1.
