Men’s soccer visits N.C. State Monday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – After beginning the season Thursday with a 3-2 victory over Northern Kentucky, the UNC Asheville Men's Soccer Team will visit N.C. State for its first road match on Monday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Dail Soccer Field.
Holding On
The Bulldogs took a 3-0 lead against the Norse, holding on for victory after a pair of goals by Jesse Randall in the last nine minutes of the match. Freshman Jarron James scored in his collegiate debut, while Asheville was able to force an own goal and get a score from sophomore Conor Behan. Leon Musial, who was named to the Big South All-Freshman squad in the spring, totaled four saves in the win. As a team, Asheville outshot Northern Kentucky 15-10, with eight shots on frame.
Consecutive W's
Asheville's 3-2 victory over Northern Kentucky on Thursday gave the Bulldogs their first back-to-back season-opening wins since 2003-04. The Bulldogs, who started 2-0 in the spring, have never began consecutive seasons 2-0.
Scouting the Wolfpack
Like Asheville, N.C. State enters Monday's match having played just one contest, a 2-0 victory over USC Upstate on Thursday evening. The Wolfpack got a goal from Luke Hill and forced an own goal, while Leon Krapf registered one save. N.C. State outshot USC upstate 18-4, with seven shots on net in the win. The Wolfpack were victorious against their ACC rivals Virginia Tech (2-0) and Duke (3-1) in exhibition contests this fall. Playing a fall/spring split schedule due to COVID, N.C. State was 3-8-4 last season, going 1-7-4 in the conference.
Series History
N.C. State leads the all-time series 3-0-0, topping the Bulldogs 3-0 in Raleigh last time the two sides met (2017).
