Women’s Tennis visits Presbyterian on Thursday

ASHEVILLE N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team hits the road on Thursday, traveling to Clinton, South Carolina for a match against Presbyterian beginning at 2:00 p.m. Thursday marks the last road match of the season for the Bulldogs.
Asheville sits at 5-6 overall in the season, going an even 2-2 in Big South play. After a pair of road wins at Longwood and Campbell, the Bulldogs battled Radford tough on Saturday, but ultimately fell 4-3. Ami Grace Dougah, Rosie Dickson and Linge Steenkamp all picked up singles victories for Asheville. Dougah is tied for the most singles wins in the Big South (9-2), going 8-2 at the No. 2 singles flight (conference best). Dougah and Dickson have made a strong team at the No. 1 doubles, going 6-2 as a duo. Steenkamp, meanwhile, is a perfect 3-0 in her young career.
Scouting the Blue Hose
Although Presbyterian is 4-10 on the season, the Blue Hose are a perfect 3-0 in Big South play. Like Asheville, Presbyterian recently faced Radford, downing the highlanders 5-2. A trio of Blue Hose are 3-0 in Big South play in Beth Lacey, Jessica Leeman and Lucianna Piedra. Leeman is a league-best 4-2 at the No. 3 singles position while Lace and Zeba Jamal are 2-1 as a team in Big South action.
Series History
The Bulldogs and Blue Hose are familiar foes, meeting 15 times since 2007, with Asheville doubling up Presbyterian 10-5 during that time. When the two sides met in 2019, Asheville was victorious 4-2, snapping a two-game win streak for the Blue Hose. In Clinton, the Bulldogs are 4-2.
