Women’s Tennis to open Spring Season Thursday against Mars Hill

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – After nearly 11 months without competition, the UNC Asheville women's tennis team returns to the court on Thursday, opening up its spring 2021 season against Mars Hill.
"The ladies are so excited to finally compete again after almost a year since our last match," said head coach Lise Gregory. "We have a great group who have dealt with the stresses of Covid as well as I could have hoped for."
The Bulldogs, who were selected to finish second in the Big South Preseason poll, had a record of 8-2 last spring, with their last matchup being a 4-3 victory over Winthrop (March 6, 2020).
Among others, Asheville returns Ami Grace Dougah, Rosie Dixon and Anastasia Horvat. A native of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Dougah led the Bulldogs in singles wins before the spring 2020 campaign was cut short, going 8-2 while competing at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Dixon went 6-3 as a freshman and Horvat picked up four singles victories.
The action between the Bulldogs and Lions will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
