Women's Tennis opens up season with victory over Mars Hill

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -Â After 11 months in between seasons, the UNC Asheville Women's Tennis team opened up its spring season on Thursday, defeating Mars Hill 7-0 at the Asheville Racquet Club.Â
The Bulldogs looked sharp right from the starting, taking all three doubles matches in one set each. Ami Grace Dougah and Rosie Dickson took care of business (6-2) at the No. 1 doubles position. Lize Alet Morkel and Taylor Love downed their counterparts 6-0 at the No. 2 position, while Brianna Tatanto and Beatrice Faureng won 6-0 at the No. 3 doubles spot.Â
Alet Morkel had a strong showing at the No. 1 singles position, defeating Ines Rodriguez 6-2, 6-2. Dougah picked up where she left off almost a year ago, winning her match at the No. 2 singles position in dominant fashion (6-0, 6-0). Beatrice Faureng, a freshman from Oslo, Norway, played well in her collegiate debut, winning 6-2, 6-1 (No. 3 singles), while Taranto (6-1, 6-3) and Dickson (6-1, 6-0) each won in straight sets at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions, respectively.Â
The Bulldogs waste no time returning to action, as they are scheduled to travel to Chattanooga to face the Mocs starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday. You can watch all the action here, and follow the live stats here.
