Bulldogs to Take on Belmont in Three-Game Series

NASHVILLE, TENN. – UNC Asheville baseball will take on the Belmont Bruins this weekend for a three-game series at Rose Park in Nashville, Tenn.
First pitch for game one is scheduled for 5 p.m. (ET), Friday, February 28 while game two is scheduled for 3 p.m. (ET), Saturday. The finale will be at 2 p.m. (ET), Sunday, March 1.
Probable Starters
Friday: LHP Jacob Edwards vs. RHP Joshua South
Saturday: RHP Blake Brown vs. RHP Logan Bowen
Sunday: RHP Ryan Douglas vs. TBD
About the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have opened the early part of the season with a 2-6 record. Their two wins came from a series victory versus UAB last weekend. The Bulldogs took game one, 7-4, after a strong start from sophomore Jacob Edwards who allowed only two runs through a career high eight innings. The sophomore lefty also struck out a career- high 10 batters in the game. UNC Asheville solidified the series victory with a 7-4 win in Saturday's game as Greg Gasparro led the Bulldogs with four RBIs.
First baseman Easton Jones was named Big South Players of the Week last week as he hit .556 and had four multi-hit games. Jones is leading UNC Asheville as he has hit .364 through his first eight games in a Bulldog uniform.
About the Bruins
The Bruins opened the season by taking one of three games from the Jayhawks as Belmont hosted Kansas to begin the season. Belmont then went on to win five straight games before losing in a midweek contest to North Alabama earlier this week. North Alabama no-hit the Bruins in a 1-0 victory in Florence, Ala.
