Bulldogs Matchup with North Greenville Moved to Monday

ASHEVILLE – UNC Asheville's women's tennis team's matchup with North Greenville, originally scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, has been postponed until Monday, February 24, at 1 p.m. at the Asheville Racquet Club.
The Bulldogs have opened the season with a 4-1 record and are coming off of a thrilling 4-3 victory against Chattanooga, last Friday. The Bulldogs took the doubles point and followed with three singles victories in three sets.

EARNING RECOGNITION
Sophomore Lize Alet Morkel earned the Big South Conference's Player of the Week for the second straight week after winning her match at No. 1 singles and at No. 1 doubles. It is the fourth time in her career she has won the honor. It is the third time already this season the Bulldogs have claimed the award, as senior Emily Sidor earned the recognition, January 29.
Ami Grace Dougah earned the league's Freshman of the Week Award last week after going 2-0 in both singles and doubles in matches against Mars Hill and Wofford.

LEADING THE WAY
Morkel, Dougah and Sidor all have 4-1 records in singles play to begin the year. Morkel and Dougah have split time at the No. 1 and 2 spots, while Sidor has played at No. 3 in all five matches.
In doubles, Dougah and fellow freshman Brianna Taranto have teamed up for a 4-1 record at the No. 2 spot, while Sidor and fellow senior Lauren Watson-Steel are 4-1 playing at No. 3.

SCOUTING THE CRUSADER
Friday's matchup will be the first of the spring for North Greenville. The Crusaders posted a 1-2 record in dual competition in the fall.
Larissa Berger led the way with a 2-1 record in singles play at the No.1 position, and she and her sister, Nikita, led the team with a 2-1 record at No. 1 doubles.
