Bulldogs Take Down North Greenville in Home Matchup

ASHEVILLE – UNC Asheville's women's tennis team closed out its six-match season-opening home stand with a 7-0 victory against North Greenville, Monday afternoon, at the Asheville Racquet Club.
The Bulldogs (5-1) started the afternoon strong, taking the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. The senior tandem of Emily Sidor and Lauren Watson-Steele downed NGU's duo of Natalie Schnackenber and Sarah Rafferty, 6-0, at No. 3. Ami Grace Dougah teamed up with Anastasia Horvat for the first time this season and they won their first match together, 6-1, against Ashley Barnett and Bethany Tankersley at No. 2.
The Bulldogs took each of the first four singles matches in straight sets. Dougah defeated Larissa Berger, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1, while Lize Alet Morkel took down Nikita Berger, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2.
The seniors won their matches as well, as Watson-Steele earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Jhovana Brena at No. 3, and Sidor picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Tankersly at No. 4.
Freshman Rosie Dickson playing at No. 5 and Horvat at No. 6 singles each picked up victories, taking one set, 6-0.
The Bulldogs will now hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to Emmanuel for a 2 p.m., Saturday showdown, followed by a trip to Kennesaw State, Sunday.
